THE DANGER IS TO THE BODY
AND IT CAN KILL
PEOPLE OF INTEREST
Certo
A gun for hire based out of the Third Claw, making a name for themself as an efficient killer, despite their relatively recent arrival to the industry. Refusing contracts that would tie them to any specific group, they prefer the autonomy that comes with freelance work, and hold no loyalty to any one faction over another.
Reading anything from them is near impossible, and even their species remains up for debate, though it's more or less assumed they're human. The suit and helmet covering every inch of skin masks any expression, and years of training masks nearly everything else.
Used to the simplicity of assassinations, when they're hired to retrieve a stolen data drive Certo nearly refuses the job entirely, but curiosity (and later, necessity) urges them to follow the trail of clues through to the end.
Coris
A rowdy exile from the galaxy's largest pharmaceutical dynasty, Coris spends much of her time making money as a mercenary, and then spending that money at clubs in the Third Claw.
Attention seeking in many ways, Coris dresses as loud as her personality. Her mother's proprietary royal gene mix prevents scarring, but also any piercings or tattoos she might try to receive. To compensate for this, she styles herself in bright reds, an overt homage to her planet's counterculture movement, though it isn't hard to recognize it as more of a costume.
When a job goes sideways she's left stranded with an injured Protectorate officer, one who offers her an opportunity she can't refuse.
Sunspot and Firefly
At first glance, Sunspot doesn't seem like anyone out of the ordinary, aside from the small drone that interprets her sign language. She appears to be just one of many people investigating Antecedent ruins, but her bond with her companion reduces death to merely a temporary setback.
Sunspot's reckless friendliness and devotion to getting the most out of life is tempered somewhat by Firefly's much more prickly and cautious nature. Largely uninterested in people other than Sunspot, he focuses instead on keeping her safe and happy to the best of his abilities, meaning sometimes he's pulled into her plans to make new friends, or offer aid.
After Mythrakis rescues the two of them from the frozen prison where she was first resurrected, as a new woman wiped clean of all her memories, the two of them launch into a quest seeking Firefly's origins. Without a past to hold them down, they bounce from planet to planet and station to station in an attempt to escape the shadow of whoever Sunspot used to be.
Mythrakis
A well established pirate operating out of the Third Claw, Mythrakis left his family names behind with the death of the rebellion in an attempt to prevent strangers from connecting him to its leader. Vessix are rare enough in populated space, and a lone one even more so, which would mark him as an outsider even if he didn't cut such an imposing figure.
Despite his ruthless reputation, Mythrakis has a soft spot for lost causes and can't help but try to lend a helping hand when he can. A good number of ships in the Third Claw have been patched up with his toolkit and his collection of spare parts scavenged from military ships.
A lifelong hatred of the Protectorate aims the great majority of his raids on military ships, but since the execution of his crew he has been single mindedly hunting the one responsible for their deaths, a task only interrupted by the discovery of Sunspot and Firefly. Their existence as a synthesis of Antecedent tech and biology cements them as a holy figure to him, something he does his best not to dwell on too much.
