HOME

An artificial planetoid currently located in the central bar of the First Claw, which acts as the military’s training ground, their stronghold, and war table. Once standardized education of cadets is complete, recruits are sorted into the duty that will allow them to serve the most use, typically exported to outer claw stations where they may fight for state interests. Rarely, cadets are singled out for having greater potential than their peers, and are shunted into a more rigorous training program. Deeper levels of the station typically require higher and higher levels of clearance, as most of the laboratories found on this planet perform experiments requiring special permission from the central government, though real oversight is minimal given the necessity of the projects to the continued security of the Protectorate. The levels closest to the center of this planetoid host high level operations briefings and much of the most holistic military decision making. Central policies are set on these levels, and specialized missions are handed out to their respective teams. Rumors about these covert maneuvers circulate on occasion.

Though technically capable of locomotion, Home is far too large to pass through any currently discovered gate, and thus maintains orbit around a star in synchronicity with a gate, streamlining imports and exports. Because of the smaller size of the planetoid, an artificial atmosphere is generated, though it remains too thin to be breathed for long periods of time. Simulated gravity is similarly restricted to the internal structures, save for the domes scattered over the surface of the station.

ELANI

The homeworld and base of operations for the Caelids and Primula Industries in the First Claw. It hosts all of the drug manufacturing the corporation is known for, as well as the labs in which the drugs are developed. Most of the planet's economy is tied to state interests, by a large margin, though a secondary export industry in civilian medical tech is permitted. The governing body consists of one queen and her seven member council, who oversee all system economic and political policies.

A mostly arid planet, the vast majority of the population resides close to the sea found on the southern hemisphere. Due to the volatile nature of much of the planet's surface, underground habitation is common, and expansive tunnel systems connect points of interest.

INAAKS

Formerly the homeworld of the Vessix, this planet exists near a hub gate in the Third Claw, though due to the heavy bombardment it has received, its orbit is still unstable. Biological life has been largely eradicated from the surface, rendering it inhospitable without large scale terraforming projects. It is currently used as a weapons testing target for the Protectorate’s Research and Development department. As its orbit continues to deteriorate, several courses of action have been suggested, such as the addition of a moon-sized satellite to attempt to stabilize the planet, which may open further paths to mining or research operations on the surface.

The Vessix were opposed to efforts of unification with the Protectorate, and tensions rose as mutual embargoes damaged shipping lanes. Suspicions rose as to the safety of their specific system, after a church outgrowth on an outer planet indicated potential invasion by the Flock. Inaaks was close enough to the blighted planet for an outbreak to be potentially disastrous, especially considering its proximity to the popular gate. After a thorough investigation, it was found there was evidence of infection by the Flock. Extreme action was taken to prevent further spread.

P0109

The only planet in its star's system near the tip of the Third Claw, p0109 sits isolated from any gates, making travel to it time consuming. Its surface mainly consists of liquid oxygen at a temperature of around 70K at a depth of over two kilometers, making research into the sea floor difficult. However, the planet holds the remnants of several Antecedent cities floating on the sea, though information pertaining to these cities is scarce in part due to its harsh environment, which limits necessary manned missions. Still, the University has unofficially claimed it as a research site, and given the probable lack of military-grade technology it has so far gone uncontested by Protectorate forces.
