WE CONSIDERED OURSELVES TO BE A POWERFUL CULTURE
VESSIX
One of the very first species to travel beyond their home system, the vessix were widely known as ship builders. This advancement is often attributed to the widespread Antecedent ruins formerly found on Inaaks, their home planet, and the gate orbiting it. Even after the destruction of Inaaks their aerospace engineers are widely renowned, and though state contracts are often rejected, proxy corporations may be capable of securing the cooperation of useful individuals.
They possess a set of secondary arms beneath the primary, as well as six eyes capable of wide spectrum reception. Though theoretically capable of infinite growth and biological immortality, vessix require a regular supply of halothane gas to facilitate normal organ function, and growth plateaus after a certain point. Cessation of halothane ingestion causes starvation-like symptoms within a matter of days, and greatly reduces wound healing as well as limb regrowth. In part because they lay eggs, typically in a clutch of only one to two, they do not readily hybridize with humans.
Religion plays a large role in the life of the majority of the population, and typical practice involves worship of Antecedent technology and perceived culture, through the lens of their synthesis of the biological and the mechanical. Dogmatic principle emphasises the utilitarian ideals of serving the greater good of the community through development and implementation of this synthesis. Replacement of limbs with prosthetic counterparts is a common practice.
Due to the destruction of their home planet, vessix culture has shifted somewhat to reflect their current status as a mostly space-faring species. Religion still plays a large part in day to day life, but dogma has become more emphatic about the virtues of contributing to community interests over those of the individual.
